3. Reading Circle Meeting #2 The Scarlet Letter first five chapters :

  • Write a paragraph analyzing how the narrator’s use of the rhetorical devices diction (word choices) and tone (the details he uses to describe them) to depict the Puritans and their community suggests his attitude toward the Puritans. Include one piece of textual evidence for diction and one piece of textual evidence for tone with elaboration that explains how each piece of evidence supports your claim of how the narrator views Puritans and their community. Each group member must write her/his own paragraph, but you may work together to choose the evidence and discuss the elaboration . One paragraph will be chosen to grade for your group's overall grade.
